Notes for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)

The following information is intended for private households that use electrical and/or electronic equipment. Please observe these important instructions in the interest of environmentally friendly disposal of old equipment and your own safety.

1. Notes on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment (old) and on the meaning of the symbol in accordance with Annex 3 to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)

Owners of old appliances must ensure that they are collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. Waste electrical and electronic equipment must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted boiling waste and, in particular, should not be disposed of as household waste. Instead, these old appliances must be collected separately and disposed of via local collection and return systems.

Owners of old appliances must also separate used batteries and accumulators which are not enclosed in the appliance before they are handed over at a collection point.

The latter does not apply if the old appliances are separated from other old appliances in accordance with § 14 paragraph 5 sentences 2 and 3 of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) by the public waste management authorities for the purpose of preparing them for reuse in order to prepare them for reuse.

The symbol according to Annex 3 of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) allows owners to identify end-of-life appliances that are to be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of their service life. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out wheeled bin and is structured as follows:
2. Notes on the possibilities for returning old appliances

Owners of old appliances can return them within the scope of the possibilities for returning or collecting old appliances set up and available by public waste management authorities in order to ensure the proper disposal of the old appliances. If necessary, it may also be possible to dispose of electrical and electronic equipment there for the purpose of reusing the equipment. Further information on this can be obtained from the respective collection or collection point.
