My training as an electronics technician for devices and systems
Ramona Appel-Hohmann

Hello, I'm Sven, 20 years old, and I started my training as an electronics technician for devices and systems in the fall of 2023.

Why did you decide to pursue this training?

I chose this training program because I wanted a future-oriented career in a smaller company. I looked for interesting training opportunities in my area and ultimately came across Wempe Elektronic. After the interview, I was convinced.

What does the content of your apprenticeship look like?

In my first year of training, I was taught the basics of electrical engineering. I was quite overwhelmed at first, but things got better over time and I was able to learn a lot. In my second year of training, I have so far worked more on projects, such as a motion detector that unlocks a PC.

What does a typical day in training look like?

When I arrive at work in the morning, I usually still have tasks from yesterday on my desk. These tasks can vary greatly; sometimes it's manual assembly, sometimes it's a project I'm working on.

In between, we often get together with several colleagues and discuss how to proceed. At the moment, I often switch between working with production management and maintenance, so every day is different and varied.

What are you working on right now?

I am currently working on a small circular saw. The speed should be adjustable, it should be possible to connect it using sockets or barrel connectors, and a signal LED should be added.

Is there anything you particularly like about WeTech?

Yes, for now I get along pretty well with all my coworkers here. I like that I'm also learning a lot here that isn't part of my training. I feel pretty comfortable here and would like to stay here after my training.
